MITTANは、世界各地に残る衣服や生地の歴史を手がかりに、現代の民族服を提案するブランドです。
平面的な衣服構造を再解釈し、天然素材が持つ本来の機能性と融合させることで、時代に左右されず永く着続けられる服づくりを目指しています。

生地には、日本各地の機械織り産地や、インド・ラオスなどアジア圏の手織り素材を使用。
デザイナー自らが産地に足を運び、素材開発から関わっています。
縫製や付属には主に天然素材を用い、信頼できる国内工場で仕立てています。
また、草木や藍、鉱物などを用いた染色による、不均一で奥行きのある表情もMITTANの特徴です。

MITTAN proposes contemporary folk clothing inspired by the history of garments and textiles from around the world.
By reinterpreting flat garment structures and combining them with the inherent functionality of natural materials, the brand aims to create timeless clothing that is not bound to fleeting trends.

Fabrics are sourced from Japanese weaving regions as well as handwoven textiles from parts of Asia such as India and Laos. The designer is directly involved in visiting production sites and developing original materials. Garments are carefully crafted in trusted Japanese factories, using natural materials for sewing threads, labels, buttons, and other details.
In addition to conventional dyes, natural dyeing methods using plants, indigo, minerals, and charcoal are employed, embracing the beauty of natural variation in color.
